As many as 179 cases were settled through mediation at the National Lok Adalat held at the Kalaburagi Bench of the Karnataka High Court, with compensation of Rs 4.93 crore ordered for affected parties.
The Lok Adalat was organised by the Kalaburagi High Court Legal Services Committee following directions from the National Legal Services Authority.
Justices Ashok S Kinagi and M Shringesh participated in the proceedings and facilitated settlements in motor vehicle insurance and family-related cases through mediation, in the presence of the concerned parties.
The court ordered payment of a total compensation of Rs 4,93,75,993 in the cases settled during the Lok Adalat.
Kalaburagi High Court Legal Services Committee Secretary DK Kumar said the cases were resolved amicably through the Lok Adalat process.
The proceedings provided an opportunity for the parties to settle their disputes through mediation and avoid prolonged litigation.
