Premalatha Vijayakant urged Tamil Nadu govt to act on law and order, dengue prevention, farmers’ loans, power outages, Cauvery water and paddy procurement.

DMDK general secretary and Vriddhachalam MLA Premalatha Vijayakant on Sunday urged the Tamil Nadu government to take urgent action on a range of issues, including law and order, dengue prevention, farmers’ welfare, electricity supply and paddy procurement.
Expressing concern over the state’s law-and-order situation, Premalatha referred to the double murder in Sivaganga and killings reported in Madurai and Krishnagiri. She called for swift investigations, the arrest of those responsible and stringent punishment through legal proceedings. She also urged the government to introduce preventive measures to curb similar incidents.
Premalatha also sought stronger measures against dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. She called on local bodies to intensify mosquito-control operations and asked government hospitals to ensure adequate beds, medicines and diagnostic facilities. Referring to reports of dengue infections among Anna University students, she sought immediate preventive measures on the campus.
On farmers’ issues, Premalatha highlighted the protest at Samayapuram and demanded a complete waiver of agricultural loans. Referring to the reported waiver of Rs 247.15 crore in crop loans for 50,779 farmers in Tiruchy district, she sought similar relief for eligible farmers across Tamil Nadu.
She also raised concerns involving fishermen in Pattinapakkam, security during Vinayaka Chaturthi processions and Tamil Nadu’s share of Cauvery water. She urged the government to press Karnataka on the water issue.
On electricity, she demanded immediate action against unannounced power outages. She further sought faster procurement of rain-exposed paddy in Tirunelveli and Vriddhachalam to protect farmers from financial losses.
